Thank you to Two Writing Teachers and the March Slice of Life Challenge Community for inspiration and encouragement.  Read their amazing blogs here.

This is Day 31 of 31.   Comments I’ll cherish are clipped into a folder.  My blog fodder journal remains in my handbag. My heart is full.  Read some of my inspiration here.

An Off-Road Feminist Travelogue

Poetry is a stretch for me, but feminism I’ve been thinking a lot about lately.

Thanks @twowritingteachers  for the push.

“Most people quit because they look how far they have to go, not how far they have come.”

I was born on the cusp of the ‘60’s

Into a home with an

Opinionated, working mother

And a father raised by

Very strong women

I heard Angela Davis speak

When I was in elementary school

And met Bella Abzug when

I was 20

Women’s Rights were Human Rights

In my consciousness since birth

And yet…

I became a teacher

Some would say the definition of

‘Women’s work’

And I would agree,

The work of empowering the next generation

The work of imparting ‘herstory’

The work of exemplifying and elevating empathy every day.

Oh, yeah,  it’s women’s work

And the work of humanity.
